I received my Shepherd's Hut two months ago. I love working in it. My stove smoulders, I stare out at the valley, I write with an ease and lightness. But in some ways I miss the excitement of the ordering. I went for English Shepherds Huts after umming and ahing for months. I must have spoken to every hut company in UK. I could have got one cheaper, which I would have had to paint with Cupranol each year, and I could have got one a bit bigger for the same money, but it would have arrived in a kit, and that couldn't have been as strong, I reasoned. Above all I was won over by the charm and care of the people at the ESHC. I loved how they took such patience with my order, and were so good-humoured with it, and on the delivery day itself it was a joy to have Craig himself visit. I loved his relish for his work. I loved how he brought kindling and fire lighters, so he could light my stove. Brilliant people! Brilliant huts! Thank you!

I am impressed by the design and quality of these beautiful shepherd huts and timberpads. They are cosy and peaceful, whilst elegant and desirable. When I had a business meeting in a Timberpad the place was the ideal environment for concentration and imagination. To rest in a Shepherds Hut feels like you are in a different world, it can be whatever you want it to be, ones own private paradise in this fast moving life in which we live. I love them.

I haven't, as yet, had the pleasure of staying in (or owning) a shepherds hut - however I have ancestors who were shepherds and who undoubtedly lived temporarily in very similar (though a lot more basic) shepherds huts. You only need to look at the real example at Gressenhall museum of rural life to see how genuinely heritage these huts really are. One day I'm sure I'll manage to go 'glamping' and feel even more nostalgic for the 18th and 19th century rural life!
