After waiting for a good occasion to have what i thought would be a woooooow experience, ill firstly start with the fact ive done many Michelin star tasting menus, being Ramsey, pierre koffman etc. I specifically asked for no nuts, this turned out to fall on deaf ears, having 3 of my courses come with nuts, had i been allergic, this could be a serious thing. Out of 2 courses that were good, croquettes of veal and a bass. The rest were a total waste of money, one plate they tried telling me was because it was spring in the new forest, WHAT....is asparagus different here?, maybe theres something in the soil, how about going to dine at verveine, there show u where your going wrong, massively trying to be something your not, someone coming over to do the description and putting a white glove on, god it was so pretentious, id like to say shocking, and well and truly a waste of money, terrible experience, and when we sent the spring veg dish back, no apology, no can we change it, no can we take it off the bill, lets say nothing, very unprofessional, we live on the coast and the forest, and im blessed to have such a great choice of food, from the meat and fish varieties.......AND YOU HAVE THE AUDACITY TO SERVE THAT.....yes im annoyed, money is tight for everyone, i wish id gone McDonalds, and that's being polite.....well you certainly have to try, after such hype....ill leave it there. go try it, make ya own mind up, if youve had fine dining experience and you have taste buds, your fully understand, maybe i went on a bad day.

A highly-rated restaurant that sadly was not on point when we visited. The seven-course taster menu lacked the skill and imagination we were anticipating, often leaving our palates craving more depth of flavour and innovation to excite the senses. From the slightly stale bread roll at the start to the rather ordinary rum baba towards the end, the two arguably good plates were mere punctuation in an evening of mediocrity. None of this was enhanced by the inconsistent tempo and the parade of different waiters who struggled to guide us through the experience coherently. Things that are usually forgiven, such as napkins missing from the table, not having cream for coffee and facilities that very much need a refit, suddenly become noteworthy. Overall, disappointing.
