FAQ

What type of care is available at your birth center?

At The Diamond Jubilee Maternity Unit, we offer a range of care options for expectant mothers, including prenatal care, labor and delivery support, and postpartum care. Our experienced team of midwives and doctors provide personalized care to ensure a safe and comfortable birth experience for both mother and baby.

What is the average length of stay for mother and baby?

The length of stay for mother and baby at our birth center depends on a variety of factors, including the type of birth and the health status of both mother and baby. Typically, mothers and babies stay with us for a minimum of 6-12 hours after a vaginal birth and 24-48 hours after a cesarean birth, but we always tailor our care to meet the individual needs of each family.

How do you handle emergencies during childbirth?

At The Diamond Jubilee Maternity Unit, we have a comprehensive emergency plan in place to ensure the safety of both mother and baby. Our team is trained to recognize and respond to any emergency situation that may arise during childbirth. We also have close relationships with nearby hospitals and emergency services to ensure a seamless transfer of care if necessary.

What type of pain management options are available?

We offer a variety of pain management options for labor and delivery, including natural pain management techniques such as breathing and relaxation techniques, hydrotherapy, and massage, as well as medical options such as epidurals. Our team will work with each mother to determine the best pain management options for her individual needs and preferences.

What is the process for transferring to a hospital if necessary during labor or delivery?

Although we strive to provide a safe and comfortable birth experience for mothers and babies at our birth center, sometimes transfers to a hospital may be necessary. In the event of a transfer, our team will coordinate with the hospital to ensure a smooth transition of care. Our team will continue to provide support to the mother and baby throughout the transfer process and during their stay at the hospital, if necessary.

Lack of communication is horrible here, often left all day without any information. Made up observations results that they hadn't even done.

Do not go here to give birth, you become a prisoner. And they won't let you go home. The manager clearly has no clue how to run this unit of the hospital. Its not due to the budget they have it's due to lack of training in the staff. DO NOT GO HERE THERE ARE HOSPITALS THAT ACTUALLY CARE ABOUT YOU AND HERE THEY DONT, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED....

Absolutely first class care at Lister Maternity! Staff are amazing and very thorough. We spent three days on Dacre & Gloucester wards as well as on delivery in the CLU, and all were excellent. They put you at ease and support you all the way. Would definitely recommend having your baby here you are in great hands!

If your coming here, ensure you bring food. Average waiting is 3 hours. Add a couple of hours if you need to do blood tests. Absolutely useless.
