(Translated by Google) The Dartmoor Inn Is a classic, historic country inn that has been tastefully expanded and modernized. A lovely little bar with a low ceiling and a variety of restaurant spaces adjoining. Very friendly reception, the booked room Brentor spacious, a bit plush, but very lovingly furnished. The double windows facing the very noisy main street keep out the noise well, but cannot be opened. The bathroom also pretty and spacious with a large window; Shower and washbasin fittings once again (as almost always in Great Britain) leave us amazed and amused. Even in the 21st century there are no mixer taps, no water pressure: bizarre! The moor begins almost directly at the house: You should take at least a short walk; there is a beautiful little river nearby. Menu reads quite appetizing. The choice falls on: Green Asparagus with Poached Egg, Devon Blue Cheese, Bread Chips and Dark Brown Polka Dot Aioli In this already very flavorful meal, this is the wildest tightrope act! But it works: the asparagus very tasty; the cheese crumbs with egg, bread, aioli and asparagus together result in a diverse umami mixture in the mouth that is attractive. Nice! Coronation Chicken Beignet with Mango Salsa, Curry Mayonnaise and Coriander is a large chicken croquette with plenty of slightly fibrous but not dry chicken meat. The mango salsa is not too sweet, the dabs of mayo and coriander go well with it. Cod with chorizo, pepper cream, citrus jelly and pepper strips with samphire As with the starters: a little wild composition, but it works quite well. Fish fillet gently but well fried, a little salty. Chorizo pieces uncooked not so good. Paprika cream and citrus gel complement each other surprisingly well. The vegetables are crisp and a good addition. Dry aged rump steak with pepper sauce, watercress and triple cooked chips Meat tasty and fried comme il faut, maybe not quite as great a taste as hoped. The Triple Cooked Chips are perfect for this. Pepper sauce delicious. Pigeon with Jerusalem artichoke, mushrooms and blackberries is the next wild plate that seems dedicated to the aromatic crash. But somehow it all works again. The pigeon breast roasted to perfection, the combination of everything somehow quite good; only the Jerusalem artichoke chips are too dominant. Ginger Treacle Tart, confit orange and stem ginger ice cream As is so often the case on the British Isles, dessert shouldn't be skipped! Super delicious: the tartlet is firm on the edge, soft and crumbly on the inside, delicately flavored with ginger, the ice cream is creamy with a clear but not too intense ginger taste, orange zest and gel perfect. (17/20) The 2021 Pouilly Fuissé from a producer unknown to us is very light, but with core. Very nice! The Carmenere Reserva from the Colchagua Valley is strangely unbalanced with little fruit and firm tannins. Hm. Service many-legged, but very friendly. We felt comfortable and would love to come back at the next opportunity. Essen insgesamt sehr solide 15/20

Surprised with the stunning lunch we chanced upon at The Dartmoor Inn on Easter sunday. Hear the deserts are fab but we just couldn’t manage another morsel of deliciousness. Highly recommended on the way back from Lydford Gorge.

I took some friends for dinner here. We had drinks, arancini and crab for starters, then venison and hake for mains. Finished with sticky toffee pudding, a chocolate brownie and panna cotta. Everything was a delight, with balance and surprise in every forkful. Service was charming.

Food was good, would of been better if side plates were removed after starter, some serving spoons for vegetables, offering of mustard or horseradish. Drinks were quite poor, warm Guinness from a can and flat lemonade. Chairs were very squeaky and uncomfortable.

We have been going to The Dartmoor Inn for many years when the previous owners were running it. We were most disappointed with the food which was extremely poor and well overpriced! We even had to pay for the bread which usually is complimentary! One thing is for sure. .we won't be going again!🙄 Service : 2/5 | Location : 5/5 Hotel highlights Quiet … More
