In January, 2020, I booked a freighter passage from Wilmington, NC, to Antwerp, round trip through Cruise People. By March, the COVID pandemic had halted cruise ship sailings. In April, 2020, I received notification from Cruise People that the Steamship company had cancelled my passage and that the Cruise People would fully refund my fully paid passage. By December, 2020, after more than five letters and phone calls to the owner of the Cruise People, Kevin Griffin, all of which ended with a promise that the refund was “in the mail”, I instituted small claims court action. In April, 2021, I finally received my refund. This experience was very annoying and one that I hope to avoid in the future. I will not do business with the Cruise People again.

This company lacks honesty, integrity, and fails to respond to inquiries unless it benefits them. I would NOT recommend them. I would not have even given any stars if possible. Very sad that organizations like this exist. This company will cancel your reservation and then refuse to respond to emails when it comes to the money they owe you for the cancelled voyage.

They cancelled my trip due to COVID ~2 months ago. They said they will refund me and I have their invoice for this. But weeks go by and they do nothing. I email every week and still nothing happens. First time I have dealt with them. They are obviously unreliable and lacking in integrity, or so it would appear. Am following up with citizensadvice as maybe that will help them to act honorably and pay me the refund I am owed.
