Had a really nice stay at the Cross Keys in Thixendale and would highly recommend them. The village of Thixendale so beautiful and serene. The rooms were tidy and well appointed. The proprietors, Tom and Natalie, were very friendly and accommodating and the food was delicious! Walkability: Great stopping point on the Yorkshire Wolds National trail and accessible to several other trails in the area.

Five stars isn't enough. Service is beyond anyone's reasonable expectations. Menu is deliberately limited. I had meatballs, b-in-law fish and chips. Fantastic. I had the cheesecake, he had the brownie. His was great. Mine was better. Top quality beer. Room is really lovely - ask for Room 3. Definitely the highlight of our walk so far. Doubt that it will be beaten.
