Popped by late Sunday afternoon for a quick drink. Couldn't have been a warmer welcome. It is lovely, cosy and warm, and a small play area outside next to a pretty stream. We'll definitely be back if we're in the area

We did our courting here 35 years ago and although we moved to Dorset, we always pop off the M3 motorway at Hook to have lunch here before proceeding on our journey. In winter there is a lovely log-fire, a good choice of real ales and good home-cooking on the menu. In summer we use the beer-garden next to the river and have never had a disappointing meal over the years. Friendly staff, satisfying food and a good choice of drinks - In short, a perfect refreshing break on a journey.

6 of us had a lovely lunch here last week. Staff really friendly. Food very good & we all had different. Only negative to me was that it was cold in the pub. There was an open fire but was not sufficient for such a big pub & we did have 2 over 90's with us. I did state this when I booked & was told we'd be put in a warm corner.
