At The Cooper School, we prioritize diversity and inclusion in all of our programs and initiatives. We believe in creating a safe and welcoming environment for students of all backgrounds, and we actively seek out opportunities to celebrate diversity and promote inclusivity. Our curriculum is designed to be culturally responsive, and we provide ongoing training to our staff to ensure that they are equipped to meet the needs of all students.

What is the school's approach to discipline and student behavior management?

Our approach to discipline and behavior management is rooted in restorative practices. We believe that when students make mistakes, it is an opportunity for them to learn and grow. Our teachers work with students to help them understand the impact of their actions, and to develop strategies for making better choices in the future. We also involve parents and families in this process, and work collaboratively to ensure that our students feel supported and valued.

Are there any specialized programs or resources for students with special needs or language barriers?

Yes, we have a range of specialized programs and resources for students with special needs or language barriers. Our Special Education team works closely with families and teachers to develop individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs. We also have a dedicated English Language Learner (ELL) program, which provides language support to students who are still developing their English proficiency.

How does the school involve parents and families in the education process?

We believe that parents and families play a critical role in their child's education. As such, we have a variety of ways that we involve parents and families in the education process. We hold regular parent-teacher conferences, and provide ongoing communication through newsletters, emails, and other channels. We also encourage parents and families to volunteer in the classroom, and to participate in school events and activities.

What extracurricular activities and after-school programs do you offer for students?

We offer a variety of extracurricular activities and after-school programs for our students. These include options such as sports teams, music and art programs, and academic clubs. We also offer before and after-school care for families who need additional support. Our goal is to provide a well-rounded education that supports the whole child, and we believe that these programs play an important role in achieving that goal.

As an NHS worker, I found it was a well organised school. Buildings are a little bit plain but, crucially, are warm and work correctly. The Teachers and Estates staff were rightly watchful and cautious (checking my ID) whilst being polite and professional. The suggestion I have would be that it would be good to have a cafe / break-out area. The canteen looked OK but not really somewhere to hang out. That said: the lack of vending machines and junk food is a GOOD thing - too many schools indulge too much in that. Overall was impressed. Can't speak for it academically, although my fresh eyes saw that it is a friendly and welcoming school.

This School is run to deliver the results they want and if your child is science oriented then great. My daughter was music oriented and had no support apart from her music teacher. Through her own hard work won a place at the Acadamy of Contemporary music and there was no acknowledgement of this achievement which is extremely hard to attain, while the staff threw praise on students who won places at universities that the staff thought were great. Bad example to children not to encourage their own wishes. My other daughter who struggled didn’t get any of the marks they said she would because she was put in classes with children who were just misbehaving and she was discarded because she would achieve the marks they want. Bad example of results based schooling Headmaster should be ashamed of himself
