I've been eating at the Coconut Tree for a few years but recently have become quite disappointed with it. I agree with other reviewers that the service needs a revamp – although the staff are always friendly, service is best described as chaotic. When eating in, you usually have to ask for something 2-3 times before someone eventually brings it out. About 75% of the time they either forget parts of our order completely (and we have to ask for the items to be taken off the bill) or they bring out something we didn't order. We were genuinely impressed with our last takeaway because it was the first time in 3-4 visits that they had gotten the order completely correct. The music in the restaurant is also far too loud and it's usually very hot. The food was previously TCT's saving grace but I have enjoyed it less lately. The size of the vegan kotthu has been halved recently and it has a strange smoky flavour now with soy chunks added to it – used to be much better. Everything always seems a little too greasy and perhaps not as flavourful as it used to be. I do applaud them for having so many vegan options, though! The hot battered mushrooms are still the best thing on the menu.

Excellent service, perhaps the best I’ve ever seen in my years on this rock we call earth. I’m perplexed by both the continuity and consistency of flavours betwixt the array of flavours of both the starter and main dishes. I chose (with expert aid from the eloquent waiters) the lamb cutlets, beef brisket and prawn curry. Zac and Zayn were totally fabulous and a treasure to behold in the hospitality industry. Much love to the coconut tree fam. X
