We live in Berwick upon Tweed, so to come to gig in Barnsley involves a 3+ hour drive and a hotel for the night - quite a commitment! It was the Show of Hands / Michael Wood / Kirsty Merryn gig on 19th May that drew us south. The gig was, as anticipated, everything we hoped it would be. The staff at the venue were lovely, and the audience friendly and respectful of the music. All this, and Barnsley reached the play off final on the same night. Thank you Civic Theatre. Padded seats would be nice when you next have a revamp, but keep up with quality acts like that, and we'll travel down again.

First time I've been to the Civic. Great venue escpecially for a gig with a comedian. Nice atmosphere and lovely bar area. Also one of the few places with enough ladies toilets!!
