I had the worst experience here. Last April I applied, was waiting (no problem). In June I was given a date for an assessment but my father got critically ill and I flew back to say goodbye. I emailed to say I wouldn’t be able to make the appointment the next day as I would be flying home to say goodbye to my father who was on life support which was being switched off and the email reply never acknowledged my father or gave condolences but told me if I missed another session I’d be discharged. I had an assessment eventually and the person doing it was actually lovely. However, when it came to booking an available slot to start therapy I had the unfortunate experience of dealing with Audrey Benson. All I can say is I can’t believe someone with her attitude is working in mental health. In one conversation I told her I was fully flexible for appointments and her response was “well we’re not fully flexible” in such a weird tone. I don’t usually encounter people with such a snappy, weird, rude attitude and it was particularly upsetting because I just told her my father had passed away and my friend took his own life in December. Eventually I was just too upset to continue talking to her so I said “forget it” and said goodbye and no one called me back or emailed me to try to rectify the situation. My mental health has been further affected by this situation at a time I really desperately needed help.

I had my clinical placement at the Centre during my psychotherapy training a number of years ago and really appreciate the opportunity. I had met a number of dedicated, talented therapists there and since then I've continued to recommend their workshops and events to my clients.

I had an assessment for counselling here. The counsellor was very friendly, understanding, and I felt I was in a safe space. I also attend a painting class at the centre, organised through the charity 'Mind', in Hackney. I have only had one class so far but even after this I would highly recommend it. The teacher was very kind and explained everything well, the class itself was relaxing and meditative, it was nice to meet other people also. I think this place is a great resource, and very necessary for wellbeing

I sent them an email for a consultation, but they have never got back to me even though i received a confirmation email saying: Thank you for your application. We will review this information and get back to you if we need any additional information. Not professional at all.

Local centre for good mental health. Lots of courses available including counselling, ceramics, yoga - so quite a large range. Courses are inexpensive and geared to income. Hackney residents who are part of the Wellbeing network get classes for free. It's intimate here and the atmosphere isn't 'schooly.' Definitely worth looking into!
