These allotments help make this one of my favourite corners of Godalming in the summer. There's the well maintained park grounds, the immaculate bowling green, the church's graveyard with its waist high grasses come the end of summer and then the juxtaposition of all that against the eccentric individualism of the allotment plot keepers. Walk past the allotments in the summer and you'll find patches of cut flowers with their vibrant colours, runner beans climbing their poles, sometimes sunflowers standing tall gazing serenely over those tending their plots.
