I must admit I was a bit anxious at first about exhibiting in the gallery with paying upfront and shipping my artwork to them but I had nothing to worry about. The gallery was very professional and delivered everything they detailed in their application form. Unfortunately I couldn't attend in person but I was kept updated on the event and made a sale. This is a great opportunity for artists to showcase their work in a London gallery.

I recently exhibited my work at The Brick Lane Gallery and it was a great experience. As an Australian artist looking for opportunities to expand into an international market, the gallery staff were very professional and helpful. Georgia is an exceptional gallery manager, friendly and efficient, who guided me throughout the process together with Charlotte. I would recommend this gallery to artists.

The artwork at Brick Lane Gallery is very diverse and of a fairly high standard compared to similar galleries. I'd recommend checking one of the exhibitions out. :)

They contacted me about my “impressive work” for their Photography Now exhibition (I should know, I am already a successful photographer who has held a solo exhibition elsewhere). I enquired for further information and was told they ask artists to pay upfront £660 for a 3m wall space, £1320 for 6m or £1980 for 9m to exhibit with promise of exposure, but no guarantee of sales. Shocking! If they were as successful a gallery as they promote themselves to be, they wouldn’t need this business model. Why not have a commission based model and take a cut per sale of work, rather than ask artists to foot the cost upfront? The whole thing is fishy, exploitative and they are clearly preying on “emerging artists” (which if they did actual research they’d know I’m not emerging at all). Artists are better off building up an audience on social media than trusting rogue galleries like this one. Avoid.

I throughly enjoyed my visit to this event and was honoured to meet with the astonishing artists. As a self taught artist, I was able to accumulate fresh creative ideas. It was pleasurable to be there and the welcome was so warming. This has made me re-think my way of life and will continue to ho to events and venues that has the artistic and creative ambience.

I took part in a group exhibition at The Annexe, Brick Lane Gallery. Unfortunately I had only one sale, but the young staff were very nice and helpful, and it was a pleasant experience to work with them. Carol Owen
