I came to Ameesha with what was frankly a mess. I was a first-time author and had very little insight into how to publish a book. In fact, at the time, I didn’t even know there were different types of editing! The front half of my first draft was stronger than the back half. Ameesha took me through the entire process and guided me to the finish line, which was incredibly helpful as a first-time author. Her insights on what content and sections needed more support, how to better order the flow of the book, and her ability to catch nitty gritty grammar edits made the Your Next Big Idea resonate (and be mistake-proof)! It is very obvious and clear to me that without Ameesha’s help with Your Next Big Idea, it would not have been as successful as it was. Before I first spoke to Ameesha at The Bookshelf Limited, I knew precisely nothing about self publication. Ameesha guided me through The Bookshelf Ltd’s action list to prepare my book for self publishing through KDP. Through video calls, phone conversations, emails and WhatsApp, she explained, nudged, reminded, encouraged and critiqued empathetically and constructively. Ameesha coordinated the input of her design team to deliver elements that I could not: creating the cover that I had envisaged, checking and re-checking until I was satisfied; creating a perfect graphic solution to a unique formatting request that just finished off the book for me. As publication drew near, Ameesha interviewed me in detail about my book to identify Amazon keywords and categories, which were an unknown mystery to me, but are vital to the marketing of a book. The success of this element was evidenced in my book spending a weekend at #1 in 6 of the categories that we identified. As a technophobe, I even had the facility of team at The Bookshelf Ltd carrying out the upload of my book to KDP and then in securing additional Amazon categories and coordinating marketing strategies (free days) through KDP. At each step, Ameesha ensured that I should be able to attempt it next time for myself. I am truly delighted with the result!
