I don't usually leave reviews but felt I must after this visit. I visited the Bold Forester after 7.30pm on Sunday looking forward to a chicken roast. The dining area was less than half full at this time but we waited 20mins before someone finally grabbed someones attention and they took our food & drink order (staff were chatting and not watching the room). I ordered the chicken roast but when it arrived my chicken was dry, it was placed on top of lots of shredded cabbage and literally a small spoons worth of actual root veg mash. It's like the kitchen had run short on ingredients and were making do with what was left. The stuffing was the size equivalent of a slice of pepperoni (why such a small thin slice?) and I was given so little gravy that I had to ask for a more. The meal I was served didn't live up to what was written on the menu description. Ive never had smoked chicken as a roast but the chicken was sadly tough and dry (probably due to the smoker). The smoked flavour was also overpowering and clashed with the flavours of the roast/gravy etc. I chatted with one of the waiting staff who mentioned they receive lots of complaints from customers about the weird flavour of the smoked chicken combined with the roast yet the management have opted not to take their customers feedback onboard(?!). In short, its a nice pub but, if you are craving a traditional succulent chicken roast then go elsewhere. The smoked chicken tasted 'strange' in a roast and was hugely disappointing for the over inflated £18.99 I paid for it.

TERRIBLE SERVICE. It took over an hour and a quarter for me and my family to be served and then when it was served they got an order wrong. The food was also very overpriced, disgusting and greasey. They got orders wrong and mixed orders up with other tables. NEVER AGAIN.

Took my family and my Mother here to celebrate my Mother's 70th birthday. Received a friendly welcome upon arrival and shown to our table. Unlike many restaurants, the tables were very well spaced, giving our family plenty of room. The menu had amazing variety, even for myself as a vegetarian. So many of the options sounded delicious. The food took a little time to arrive, but it was well worth the wait. My King's Coronation roasted aubergine was glorious with so many flavours going on. Everyone in my family loved their food. The desserts were just as good as the mains. The staff were all so friendly and helpful with choosing the food. While more pricey than I would normally spend, the food and the staff made it worth every penny. Vegetarian options: Such a wide variety of options that all sounded amazing. Really felt spoilt for choice.
