    The Bike Doctor is a cycle repair & bike hire business in Helmsley owned & operated by Julian. Julian is a mechanical engineer now running his own business with the great knowledge he has in all things cycling. The hire part of his business is starting up this summer. We were very fortunate to walk past his shop near the walled garden in Helmsley to discover we would be the first couple to hire his new electric bikes. We are a couple of 70 year olds who ride for pleasure in Australia. Although we had only ridden electric bikes twice before Julian soon had us on the road with great confidence. The bikes were great to complete the 48km circuit which Julian provided the directions for. There were a couple of steep climbs and of course descents. We had no trouble at all being able to ride these. Helmets, gloves and fluro wind jackets are all new and able to hire. We had a fantastic day with time to stop amongst the bluebells for a rest and our sandwiches which we bought at a cafe near Julian's workshop. We highly recommend Julian at the Bike Doctor Helmsley for a great day cycling the Moors.

    Hi I planned a cycling weekend from Nawton, a mile into trip a suffered a blow out on rear tyre. I googled the nearest bike shop and one in Helmsley. The owner Jules quickly replaced my tyre and inner tube. I set off again getting a little further up the road this time. Hutton Le hole to be precise when I suffered another blow out on the front wheel. I rang Jules more in hope expecting to walk back when he said ‘he couldn’t leave me stranded ‘their despite going to a family occasion. Jules turned up in his van to replace my tyre and tube again. I carry a spare tube and pump but have never suffered a blow out before. The giant tyres that came with the bike had done less than a 1000 miles. All I can say is Jules is a top bloke and went above and beyond what you expect from a cycle shop or any job to be honest. Customer service is all important when buying products and Jules’s service is top notch. Suffice to say two days great cycling saved by the knight with a tyre lever and a van. So if your ever in Helmsley a need some cycle repairs pop in to see Jules 👍
