We visited the Bentley Hotel for an afternoon tea using a virgin experience days voucher we'd been gifted for our 25th wedding anniversary. All the staff were friendly, polite and helpful, it's a lovely place. We were shown to our seats and we quickly selected our teas. I had darjeeling and my husband had Indian tea. The sandwiches arrived there was a selection of brie and chutney, coronation chicken, egg and mayo, cucumber and salmon and cream cheese. The tiered plates of cakes arrived while we were eating the sandwiches there were carrot cup cakes, raspberry moose biscuits, chocolate drops, lemon cake and mango panna cotta. Just as we finished our delicious sandwiches warm scones arrived with jam and clotted cream which we dived straight into. Everything was lovely and delicious but we couldn't eat it all so we were given the leftovers to take home which the children enjoyed later.

My friends and I went there for a spa and lunch treat to celebrate my birthday . The building is beautiful , unfortunately it must have a problem with its plumbing , it had a foul smell throughout . “Spa “ consisted of a changing room and a sauna that was the size of a double wardrobe . The only other facility to use was the “relaxation area “ made up of two very tired che lounges covered in rough towels located at the end of a corridor that was freezing . The massage itself was pleasant , but found it hard to relax as the massage table kept creaking and my view was a water damaged skirting board . Lunch was ordered at 13.00 , took 45mins for a bowel of soup and a 5 smoked salmon to be served . Salmon arrived without the the other listed ingredients on the plate and was served with the blood line still present . Complained and was given 4 small biscuits as compensation … there were 6 of us at the table . Main course was mediocre . Very disappointed about this 5 star experience and would warn others to avoid at at all costs . I would have complained more at the time but the friend who had arranged was already feeling mortified she’d picked such a bad place and had wasted our money on such a bad experience .
