I don't really go to the pub often, but on the odd occasion I do, the Bell Inn in one of only 2 places I like to frequent! Anyone who has been knows this place oozes character. The atmosphere is quiet but welcoming most days. The kitchen turns out some phenomenal bar snacks or if you are in the mood for a high quality formal meal, this is equally well catered. Selection at the bar is eclectic, serving a beautiful local ale on tap. If you are near by make sure you stop in...I am sure you will be back again soon after.

We have had our second stay at the family run Bell Inn, and we love staying in a local old Inn, the dining at the gastro pub is fabulous and terrific wine list. A destination stay with old world atmosphere to soak up. Well located for touring up to The North or back to London. Great range of rooms and easy to book.

Just returned from what was supposed to be a 2 night stay but we only stayed 1 night. First night cost was £95 the 2nd night in the same room cost £160.00!! We have stayed here on 2 other occasions but have noticed a definite decline in the hotel this time. Room was big bathroom big. One very small wardrobe which was not tall enough in height to gang a dress which left them crumpled. B3d was a wooden slated bed which was very uncomfortable. Shower left water all over the floor which made it very slippery and dangerous. Hardly any plug sockets. Went down for breakfast which believe it or not was not included in the price!! When we stayed previously it was included in the price. Everything was individually priced and very expensive. For both of us to have a decent breakfast it would have cost over £40 shocking. So disappointing. The dining room looked unkempt, tired and very uninviting. Cushions on the garden had bird poop on them. We were so looking forward to returning for a stay at this hotel but we're so disappointed wr left just after lunchtime on the second day. Sorry to say we will not be returning to the hotel again
