Food & drinks: Food ok. I have known it to be much better in previous years but it was all right. Not much on the plate for the money and the chopping board plate idea is a bit 1990s. Noteworthy details: The service and especially the attitude towards high customer service is way down from previous years. Arrogant, unaccommodating, no real understanding amongst the waiting staff of the value of custom and what that might give to reputation or repeat business. Some years ago I organised dinners for Heads of State at the Beetle and Wedge but the beautiful conservatory restaurant has gone and the staff are certainly not the silver service staff of old Listen up. Appearances can be deceptive. Just because I took my elderly mother to lunch and had to persuade a half empty Beetle and Wedge you had room for two for lunch doesn't mean that I don't know the restaurant well Also, if you don't want good passing trade then take the sign down at the local road block sign. I am not used to leaving long boring bad reviews - sorry! The approach to hospitality on the Continent is one of a serious career with a college diploma. Book otherwise they'll turn their nose up at you at the Beetle and Wedge! Shame.
