For an organisation that claims to vet their members and uphold the "standards" etc, they certainly allow a lot of their members to conduct illegal investigations. The people how think the ABI do not allow crooks to join, really need to do some more research. This outfit like to brand anyone who refuses to part with £ 275.00 to join the club a rogue agent etc. So basically, it's, "join us or we will tell everyone you are not professional." Disgusting! There are 1000's of VERY professional Private Investigators who refuse to be coerced by this lot and who provide excellent service to their clients. Dont be fooled by the bold claims on The ABI website - it's just a voluntary (pa to join) organisation with no clout and that is not a government organisation.

I'm actually a member of an alternative association. However I recently attended a seminar hosted by the ABI and found I it to be very useful. Picked up plenty of tips which I can apply to my investigations. Also it was a very friendly group of people who attended and made for a great networking experience.

I used to be a Member of the ABI. This is without doubt the most professional organisation for the Investigations Sector. It is a voluntary self regulator and as such, should be the only place that people go to to hire an investigator.

I have been a member of this body since 1980. In my considerable experience it is the most professional and proactive organisation representing the interests of investigators in the private sector. I note the negative reviews here, which appear to be scurrilous and vindictive.
