I'm going to be as honest as I possibly can about this company. I don't think they're out to crush artist or do as others say I believe they want to help but only in certain aspects such as artist development. Unfortunately this isn't what I was looking for so I refused their offer. Ville's approach to things are rather strong and a bit off-putting but it's just like any coach for any sport they're only trying to bring out the best in you. Most people are sensitive about their artwork so I could see why some would leave crazy bad reviews but also take what I say with a grain of salt because it's on the outside looking in. My advice to Ville: The strong arm approach isn't always the best approach I believe you should use your skills from being in music 35+ years to connect with people's emotions and maybe the overall opinion of the company will change. My advice to others: Know your self worth. Know your strengths and weaknesses when it comes to music and use that as a benchmark against this company. If you know those vocals aren't slapping like they're supposed to then maybe artist development is what you need but if you know your vocals are tight along with your mix or maybe you just need a little more time to get things right then I would pass up on this offer. DO YOUR HOMEWORK/RESEARCH. Don't just go off of reviews on google or submithub scout their artist reach out to them if you can and make sure they're worth it. Remember money management is key to longevity in this field and you should be wary of where your funds are going. My star count: 3/5 Simply because they aren't the monsters that others try to paint them out to be but they do need a little help on their approach to artist as any normal human can sniff out the overconfidence in their expertise with lack of results.

I recorded my latest album It's Only Now That I Know with Ville and Mat and I am thrilled with the results. It's out now on Spotify. If you are a singer songwriter like myself and need a band and a studio then these guys bring such skill and musicianship to the recording sessions. They certainly made my songs come alive. This is the second album I have recorded with them and l look forward to recording more songs in the future.

In the modern age of diy recording and music, any sane person will admit they need a mentor and a guide the best lessons are taught by those who know the industry. You can pay £60 onfiver and the young talent can amp your music up to a level you’ve never heard. I took a chance on animal farm. Google reviews didn’t help. And the long and short of it, was it was worth it. It’s a straight up business model that ensures your music will sound ready for commercial use. Young artist expect a loaded del boy to rock up and offer them the world - animal farm were to the point, direct and gave a reasonable expectation to the value they could create. They delivered more than promised. With punk rock diy ethics they shared what hard work needed to be done by the artist to achieve great things and injected unique creative input. They provided the know how and expertise to guide my project so it was truly ready for market. What you put in you get out. With my busy work schedule I couldn’t take full advantage of their offering, but however I responded, they delivered. I genuinely recommend there guidance and service to anyone, it’s invaluable. The only difference is if the artist is ready to go all the way. Google vitamin C and see the long list of side effects… yet we intake it daily. Matt and Ville are pure hearted professionals in a business that keeps independent music afloat. trust your gut, buy the ticket, take the ride. Thanks guys Why not five stars? Because it can always get better. Jake russon, Vaux Nova

So, I don’t normally leave reviews and I think I found myself in this south London establishment around 2020 helping out friends who wanted to record some tracks. The brothers that run this business left a lasting impression - but not a positive one. Hence my rather late in the day review. Even with the passing of time, and having read the plethora of negative reviews, I feel compelled to warn others away from this outfit. There are so many thieves in this industry, and I feel somewhat qualified to call the brothers Leppanen out - to give context, I’ve over 30 years experience and am a platinum selling artist with 3 top 10 singles and a number 2 album amongst others, and one of my bands toured with the likes of U2, Beck, The Rolling Stones and Oasis, playing at Glastonbury, Fuji Rock Festival etc. I have had no aspirations to succeed in the business for many years, but that’s another story. One abiding memory in the Farm studio was seeing countless impressionable young people come to their office, sometimes with parents and being given false promises and hopes of industry success based on a model that really no longer exists. As a parent, this concerns me enormously. My friends were promised a development deal that never materialised and anytime I interjected with feedback regarding mixes/experimenting with amps/studio techniques etc, I was met with derision or the comment “I know more than you and it’s not my first rodeo” from Mat. Ironic given I’ve worked with some of the biggest producers on the planet, including Tony Visconti (Bowie/T-Rex/Morrisey etc) whom he summarily slated as being a dinosaur - beyond arrogant! It should be noted that Mat and his brothers band, Snow Dogs did not achieve commercial success. Google them. They are not an acclaimed songwriting team. It’s also worth noting that all the negative reviews here are met with a response from the owners such as, ‘oh, we’ve never worked with you’. Somewhat predictable and perhaps I’ll receive the same tawdry response. So, please avoid. You’ll be promised the earth and be left with a sub sonically standard product whilst losing a pot of money in the process. You’re essentially paying large sums of money to record on average equipment with average results. But hey, what would I know? “It’s not my first rodeo” as Mat repeatedly states.

I am a songwriter and I have worked with The Animal Farm since 2018. I have experienced nothing but professionalism! Not only are Ville and Mat very talented and easygoing, but they are also very kind and honest hardworking guys. My experience from working with them has been amazing. Mat is an exceptional producer!! Ville has helped in every way he possibly can to get me to where I am in my career now and Anne is very patient when I mess up the cover art size :) :) Thank you so much guys!! I absolutely love working with you!! 🎶💕

Beware and STAY AWAY from Animal Farm and Ville Leppanen. I've done some A&R work for him last year and never got paid. After the work was done, he denied the previous agreement and ghosted me. I put him in touch with several bands, which I tremendously regret because he only tried to suck as much money as he could from them and then treated them with rudeness, disrespect and dishonesty. After reading some reviews I noticed this is actually recurrent and it wasn't a one-time bad experience. 15 out of 30 reviews here are 1 star, and if you read them as well, you get the idea. I decided to do this review so long later, because frauds like this really need to be addressed. And I'm leaving a proof of email because all bad reviews here are being contested with the same cheap excuse - 'you never worked with us' lol... Why would someone even bother to create detailed bad experiences if they weren't true?
