OK hotel, service not great in restaurant, reception or in the Tawny bar. plenty of parking but golf course currently isn't great as a bunker regeneration program is part way complete and the old bunkers are practically unplayable. This is combined with deep rough where several players lost their balls. I'm sure the course will be very nice once the regeneration program is complete. Rooms were spacious and my broken toilet was fixed within 24hrs.

Stayed at the Abbey Hotel this weekend, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. For the price we had to pay for the room, you would think we would get this. Nearly £180 for the room. Unfortunately, I have to complain about that there is a socket at the deck to do my hair and makeup, but there was no mirror to do this. There is a long mirror, but no plug socket. Needed the mirror to straighten my hair. Also, in the bathroom there was a terrible smell. It smelt like damp in there.

Myself and my partner had a spa day. Overall the place is lovely and the pool facilities are very good, apart from kids screaming when you’re trying to relax. I was really looking forward to my treatment, however my treatment was the worst I’ve ever had. My therapist didn’t check how the pressure was for me (I asked for medium in my consultation and she applied super light). I couldn’t relax at all when she gave me a massage, the massage bed wasn’t comfy either. I had a facial from her too which was lovely. Just a shame you don’t even get 50 mins of treatment like it says on the advertisement. You probably get 40-45 mins….I will be back again but definitely not for treatments Food & drinks: Very good

The Abbey Golf Course is an excellent place to visit for anyone looking to get better at golf or for those who are new to the sport. From the moment I arrived, the golf team made me feel welcome and at ease. The hotel & bar is beautifully designed and decorated, with the spa and golf course just a short walk away. The golf course is maintained to an extremely high standard and one of the most picturesque courses I've had the pleasure of playing so far. The fairways were lush and green, while the greens were fast and consistent, offering a fair challenge to golfers of any level. There were a variety of hazards and bunkers placed strategically around the course, which added to the overall challenge and made it all the more enjoyable. As a relative beginner golfer, I was hopeful but also slightly anxious about my experience at the course. However, my worries were soon put to rest by Rob, the Golf manager & head professional. Throughout my time there, he made sure to provide me with all the necessary tips and instructions to improve my swing, stance, and overall technique. His devoted and efficient help made it less daunting to participate in the sport, and his happy personality made for a relaxed and enjoyable experience! The members of staff in the golf shop were also incredibly helpful to me, demonstrating a willingness to offer assistance. They were always available to answers any questions I had, which helped to make me feel more comfortable about the golfing experience as a whole. The course is surrounded by a stunning view of the countryside, which makes it very relaxing and enjoyable, particularly between holes. These views added to the experience and provided a welcoming break from the sport. Overall, the Abbey Hotel Spa and Golf Course is the perfect escape for anyone looking for a peaceful and serene golfing break. The facilities available are impressive, and the staff incredibly welcoming, which makes for a relaxed experience from start to end. Even if you are a beginner, you will be provided with support and guidance from Rob and the team at the golf shop, who are dedicated to ensuring your trip is not only enjoyable but also educational. Green fees are great value, with great offers at quieter off peak times but I’m now looking at taking up a membership as Rob talked me through the best options to suit my needs. This golfing experience is hard to beat in my opinion. I certainly cannot wait to play regularly at The Abbey this season & beyond!
