Lovely people but disappointing turf ! In earlier phone conversations I was advised to wait until the clocks went forward before buying the turf as the quality was not yet 'quite right'.....which was welcome advice. Perhaps it was my fault initially for buying turf at the 'wrong end' of the day...after 3.00 pm, but as the ground was already prepared and the weather fine it seem the ideal opportunity. Firstly, I should say, I was only 'patching' worn areas and bought just 5 turfs. However, the 'industry standard' on numerous web sites suggests that a turf is nominally 60cm wide. These were 40cm and therefore, in order to be 1m of turf per roll they were longer....and weaker ! As I began to roll them out they simply broke and tore away from themselves leaving jagged and fractured edges resembling wet torn cardboard. I had to waste a considerable amount before I could get a decent straight edge. Equally, they were much thinner than I expected or had seen on various YouTube videos. I had to rake in an extra layer of top soil before I could begin to lay them as they seemed wafer thin. Having said all that I had the areas covered within 2 hours although with considerably more joins than I had anticipated. IF the grass grows well and covers the previously worn areas then I will be delighted and will happily post a follow up review to say so. At this moment in time I'm not overly confident ! UPDATE - July 2021 Both Elaine and Chris phoned me and asked for photographs of the troubled areas of turf. Having taken advice from Chris and used recommended feed/fertiliser the lawn recovered from its earlier rather stressed state and is now infinitely better ! You could not get better service than this ! Friendly, knowledgeable, professional --- Top service !!....try getting that when you pick up rolls from outside a local DIY shop ! My early misgivings have proved that patience is a virtue and that, with help, even I can grow a successful lawn. I am happy that I was able to change my review and to give Elaine and Chris a top recommendation......you couldn't get better than them !
