We hired a canoe from Thames Canoe Hire this week, and they couldn't have been more helpful. We used one of their recommended routes which was South Stoke to Tilehurst. We arrived at 9 and they had the canoe already loaded to take us to the start point. We were provided with lifejackets and dry bags. They offered to take our friends and their own canoe too, so they could park at the yard, which was great because we didn't have to take them to their car at the end of the day. The route they recommended was perfect for the one day hire. We left South Stoke at 10, paddled past Streatley & Goring, Pangbourne and Mapledurham and arrived back at the base at 4.30. That included a leisurely lunch at The Swan in Pangbourne where we could tie up right by the patio and another stop to visit a church on the route. We had a great day, and will definitely be back. If you look on their website you can find lots of recommended routes for half, full, two and seven day hires so there is lots of inspiration.
