Just moved to the area. Trying to set up council tax. Awful website. You have to fill in an application form to set up a direct debit then wait for someone to call you to set it up. No one called. Then send a letter for payment and expect you to put your bank details on the form and put it in the post. No thank you. Managed to call and set up over the phone eventually. What a shambles. Terrible service.

Absolute awful, still working from home 2 yrs after covid, never answer the phone, Clacton office only opens reduced hours. They alway send out threatening letters on a Friday knowing nothing can be done because they’re never open or available at the weekend. Ever since rebate was sent, they are desperate, they want you to set up a direct debit, but you shouldn’t have to. It’s time for reform, certain powers need to be taken away, to many council members doing nothing, TDC is a joke, they need to be given the Twitter treatment..

Absolutely ridiculous, don’t bother calling them , trying to sort out my dads council tax as his got a final reminder for over £600 didn’t even get a first reminder they’ve just let it build up . direct debit is still setup but they haven’t been taking the money no fault of my dads his disabled and had a stoke so I deal with it for him had the phone put down on me 3 times today after waiting exactly 41 mins each time have taken screenshots havent got through to a single person how is this fair ! If my dad doesn’t get through today it’s going to go to court and put more money on , he feels suicidal if my dad ends up taking his life I’m holding you accountable!
