TL ; DR - Fantastic practitioner, brilliant therapy, life changing. Highly recommend Tara. Full Review: When a historic back injury started flaring up again (agitated by lockdown), making me walk crooked, interfering with my life and causing me unfathomable agony for nearly 3 months, I wanted to do something drastic - get surgery, have my spine pinned back into the correct position, have my entire spine replaced, something/anything. I got on the phone to my GP, they suggested I try therapies - least intrusive (Craniosacral) to most intrusive (Acupuncture + Chiropractor) - then they would look at surgery as a last resort. So I decided to give Craniosacral a go. Quick Google search. Tara operated just around the corner, competitive market rate - ideal. So I rock up for my first appointment. I didn't believe in physiotherapy and the holistic view of body health at this point, as far as I was concerned, any kind of physio/alternative/holistic therapy was the remit of new age white witches and palm readers - if it didn't involve pharmaceuticals, cutting you open or excruciating agony, it wasn't medicine. One session with Tara had me doubting that assessment, the second session obliterated it. The techniques Tara uses are nothing short of spooky (in the best way), even though she would warn me before making physical contact 9 times out of 10 I didn't feel Tara make contact until she wanted it known. It was literally like she laid her hands on you and the pain eased or evaporated. Through Tara's careful work and guidance we were able to get the offending muscles that were interfering with my back to release the tension they were holding on to, which made fast and life changing improvements to my recovery. During the table work, I couldn't feel much of anything (bar the pain decreasing), but I understand the Craniosacral technique is all about listening to the body and - gently - encouraging it to heal through manipulation of the nerves, fascia, fluids and position. While I cant adequately explain it with my layman's understanding of the body, I can attest that it works - and brilliantly. Tara guided me on posture, relaxation, breathing, releasing the accrued muscle tension, the relationships between the muscles, even diet and complementary techniques. Tara's work has not only had a life changing effect and vastly improved my quality of life, it has completely changed my attitude to this therapy, the holistic view of the health of the human body and the relationships between different areas of it. Tara is incredibly gentle, patient, professional and went to great lengths to make me feel safe and secure in the environment. Her work is nothing short of magic, and were I remaining in the UK, I would certainly continue the therapy with her. Smiley face. Thumbs up. Top Banana.
