Visited for one night to celebrate our wedding anniversary. All I can say is wow what an incredible place! Our hotel room was immaculate and very comfortable. Visited the spa which was just great with a pool and various lovely thermal spas saunas hot tubs outside freshwater plunge pool lots of luxury loungers and very helpful and friendly staff. We were fully relaxed for our dinner at The Terrace restaurant which is the more modern and informal of the two dining experiences at Swinton. The food was delicious and well presented with sharing platters and interesting small plate dishes plus burgers steaks. Really interesting menu - the crab crumpets were both beautifully presented and delicious! The restaurant staff were very friendly professional and attentive. In the morning we explored the beautiful grounds including a walled kitchen garden, woodland parkland river and a gorgeous spring garden in full flower. Just beautiful and so peaceful and relaxing. Highly recommend.

The most amazing holiday. Everyone there absolutely lovely and so helpful. Our room was gorgeous, spotless and had the most magnificent views. Every meal we had from Breakfast to dinner was faultless. We visited the Terrace restaurant twice which was great both times. The spa is really luxurious with lovely facilities. We couldn’t think about going home after 2 nights so stopped an extra day… and very much hope to return in the future!

We staid at Swinton Park Hotel after we seen it on TV program with Gilles Coren. We found few issues and one health hazard and not to the standard it’s presented itself or were presented on TV Great building , grounds and staff I wouldn’t bother to go there. Not recommend it!

Stayed 1 night in Feb with Spa day and restaurant. Hotel: Lovely grounds really good views, estate is lit up on a night which really makes you feel welcome with warmth! Staff very friendly. Allowed us to check in early but weren’t allowed room access till 3pm. Since we were spending day in spa they took our bags and offered to take them to the room once ready. Room: York, very big room, no problems. Lovely room, clean. Obviously can see things dated but to be expected. Bed was very comfy. Check out: bill received next day under door in room, the cost of the room & restaurant did not include tax or service charge so please expect to pay more on check out that originally quoted. Additionally the bar charge is not broken down on bill, so if you want to see charges you need to ask for breakdown. Food: went to Samuel's on the Saturday evening,. Nice food, friendly staff, only negative I could say and it’s being fussy… need to visit table more if you are wanting to pour drinks for customers. As we ended up pouring our own wine for the bottle to be taken off me halfway for them to complete the task. SPA: booked all day with treatment, I cannot say enough on the treatments AMAZING. unfortunately cannot remember the ladies name but really spent time knowing which smells to use and parts to massage. Very relaxed. Went too quickly!! Steam rooms were not working. Maintenance so cannot comment on them! Main swimming pool allows kids/ babies( baby in pool when we arrived 9am) from very early. So expect kids. Hydro pool was ok but for me I’d like it a little warmer. No flavoured water available, just tap water around the spa. Saunas all fine. Natural pool - cold. Only a few people use, shame there’s no warm pool outside. Outside beds - really good idea! We spent ages wrapped up in the cold Feb day.. with the water bottles you can request heating. Really nice a relaxing!!!! Fire pit - disappointed!!! The main thing about booking a spa on the estate is that you can enjoy the estate, the views! This would of being perfect but it’s a small cornered area with zero view. Lunch was nice but set up like a airplane meal on a tray. No one visits to check all ok. Breakfast- in Terrace, we got there around 10am. Bread had run out, no glasses for juice, items from menu missing. They did get us a glass and bread. Table wobbled The price you are paying you don’t expect simple things to be just not there…. Email received on evening requesting payment for the drinks in Spa, had to advise we were staying so expected them to use the card at the desk. Seems for an estate the spa and hotel do not talk as they didn’t know we were staying, i will stay it did dampen the mood. I do not expect to be asked for payment when I’m still on the break, when there is a card saved for that at the desk. Overall: check what you are paying, maybe get the breakfast a little earlier than 10am. Definitely book massage. Don’t use spa If you think you can relax and enjoy the views from the spa. Wouldn’t get the pre lunch just order from menu while there. You can check in hotel early but won’t get access early. Samuels was nice, maybe a little quiet when you want to also talk to the people in your group. But very nice and romantic for couples.
