Swapfiets worked SO well in the Netherlands (5* review for them) and I knew countless people who used it there, but in London it’s more hassle than it’s worth. The fact that they only have one store in east London which you have to return your bike to is really inconvenient, which they say they make you “aware of in the Ts and Cs and on the website” but it’s definitely not obvious and they should not be renting to people so far away without clearly letting them know that they may be responsible for cycling to the other end of London in order to return it. The email system of communication doesn’t work well and there are a lot of technical problems making communication difficult. The benefit of swapfiets is supposed to be convenience, but they are often only able to help you during working hours (fair enough), however the only other option is committing to the other side of London in order to sort any issue? This kind of defeats the entire point of what swapfiets markets itself on. Maybe it will take a few years for them to sort these issues out (hopefully) because it’s a great idea and worked very well in NL
