Stayed in Penmaen (2022-2023). Hot water and heating have been on and off for months. Water has been dirty at times, literally brown and yellow. I don't think we will receive any compensation. There have been weeks where we have been left without hot water. Lifts are constantly dodgy, one is always broken, and the other traps people inside. Sometimes, for about 40 minutes before anyone can get help. Our kitchen only has 1 window (a widow that only opens a crack) and gets so hot from just 1 person cooking that we can't stand to be in there. It's so gross and sweaty. It gets horribly hot from people standing in there having a conversation, let alone when people actually start cooking.

Wouldn't recommend. I stayed in Penmaen floor 10 in the year 22-23, which is the newest building of all the residential complex. You are going to pay premium price for non-working services. - Hot water comes and goes. I'm writing this early May and in total we have had about 3 to 4 full weeks without hot water. Some days water isn't working at all or comes out dirty. - Heating also works only sometimes. - Out of the two lifts one is constantly breaking down trapping people inside for about 40 minutes. They do not respect their compensation policy. I will update if they do. In addition to that - Had fire alarms every week for the first semester. Evacuation takes very long, security guards aren't respectful, and the fire alarm isn't turned off until everyone has come out, even after realising it was just a deodorant that triggered the system. I believe it took the firefighters to tell them to fix the sensitivity. - Rooms and kitchens were (very) dirty upon arrival, and lack working utilities: no extractors, not enough fridge and freezer space for everyone, shower water floods toilet and room, almost no wardrobe or drawer space. - Almost no soundproofing. - Letters aren't delivered to mailboxes, but put in a big box you will have to look through. Packages sometimes take more than a full day to process once delivered to reception. - Washing is not included. £2.70 per wash and £1.70 to dry, and goes up. Consider how much you value living on campus. If you want working services go elsewhere.

Not much to say really. Workers don't have much compassion towards students; some even act as if they're superior to students which is a little annoying. Nonetheless, they still help when a student wishes to collect a parcel, get a replacement key or borrow a hoover. Any other problems a student may have are very slow to be solved.
