Joined Joe Ralphs a few months ago. Was shown around by a member of staff (forgive me, can’t remember her name). She was very helpful. Facilities are different level. Staff are polite & friendly. Gym is not over subscribed. Really enjoying coming here. By far the best gym I’ve attended.

I’ve recently joined Joe Ralph’s gym after many years out of training in a gym. I was very apprehensive about returning to a gym environment but I was very quickly put at ease, mainly due to the lovey Lisa who I have been having PT sessions with weekly. She is fantastic at what she does and is very knowledgable. She has guided me around what I should be eating and has been very encouraging; just a really warm and genuine person. The gym is great, very modern, lovely changing rooms, clean equipment and plenty of parking! I’m so pleased I took the plunge and joined.

Never really enjoyed going to the gym until I joined this wonderful gym full of high-end equipment. Everything is spotlessly clean and the changing areas are luxurious. All the staff are really friendly and welcoming. They also sell a range of coffees, protein drinks and snacks. It really is a great place for anyone on a fitness journey.

I’ve been having PT sessions with Lisa since November, she’s absolutely wonderful. She has a clear understanding of my goals and objectives & has designed training programmes to match those. From someone who had never stepped foot into a gym, from day one Lisa has been so supportive and kind, explaining everything from form to which muscle groups I’m using / need to focus on, she’s so motivating and really does push you to meet your goals. You come away from each session feeling amazing and looking forward to the next, it’s like training with a friend now. Joe Ralphs is a fantastic gym, the only one I’ve been to but I did do my research first, from the equipment, to the facilities, to the staff and the atmosphere, everything is top quality, clean, and friendly. I can’t recommend this place enough, and especially Lisa, she’s changing my life.

Friend recommended me this gym as he said it was very luxurious which I have to agree on. Watched a few YouTube videos on the gym before going in for my free day pass and I have to agree with the cons that were mentioned. They have lots of leg machines but rarely any upper body/chest machines. There is no bench press/incline bench. There is 1 Smith Machine for everyone to share, 1 Dual Pulley but it’s a large dual pulley which means you can’t really do workouts that don’t require you to be spaced apart. They have a lot of back machines which feel amazing and a new seated Tbar machine etc. I think it would be a lot better if they had a bench press or even another smith machines/preacher curl and small dual cables that can be kept in corners or on edges of the gym. They have 1 dual pulley and a single pulley on the side of Lat pull downs/ seated row. I’d love to be able to do seated cable flys or reverse bicep pulls/Kitana extensions/rear delts but with the dual pulley being spaced out to wide it’s impossible to do it together you need to do it one at a time which is why you’d go on the single pulley. I think this gym really requires you to use free weights most of the time when doing chest workouts/biceps which isn’t an issue but I understand a lot of people prefer machines as it’s more convenient to get a full ROM without worrying about form too much. Pros - Always quiet, Friendly staff, Luxurious equipment and facilities. Lovely smoothie bar and parking is very secure. Joe the guy who runs the gym is a top lad always sound and polite and reception staff always greet you soon as you come in feels like a family. Big ropes so you can get a good stretch. Cons - Not enough chest/arm machines, Maybe more accessories like cable hand straps,bars etc. Overall this gym is definitely one of the best gyms in Wakefield possibly even West Yorkshire. You get what you pay for and with the cost of this it’s basically you’re own gym. most equipment is always free and PT’s are amazing and supportive and it’s in a good location just minutes away from city centre. From someone who has been to Virgin Gyms,Nuffield etc this is definitely the quietest and luxurious one for the price range. Smoothies and coffees are cheap and nice longue area to relax after a workout.
