Had a SUP/Surf lesson and it was very good. Helpful staff and instructor went above and beyond to make everyone comfortable at there own pace. Would definitely return. Heads up parking is pricey but sea front I guess!

Fantastic team. We booked surfing but they had a plan when the sea was very calm. Paddle boarding instead. Wow....never thought of doing it but it was fantastic. If you can't prepare for the weather then have a great back up plan. Surf steps certainly do!! The Instructor was great and even though we were complete beginners we had great support and a fantastic time.

After our experience today at Surf Steps, I have to say that overall I am disappointed. Half the boards we hired were not fully blown up. In addition to this when we went to collect our deposit (my driving licence) we were told to pay an extra £35 due to us apparently using the boards for over one hour, when we were not informed that we were responsible for keeping track of time. Despite coming out of the water and being met by one of the shop assistants there, she told us that she wasn't aware of how long we had been out and said it was fine for us to go back in if we wished. Personally would not recommend this branch and would suggest going to 'sorted surf shop' a bit further along the beach from previous experience

Staff were very friendly and knowledgeable, gear seemed good, but customer service left something to be desired. On a cloudy autumn weekday that staff told us was quiet, a friend and myself booked in for a lesson. When we were dressed and on the beach, we found ourselves joined by eight gap year students. It is generally acknowledged that if you are not currently on a gap year or part of a hen do, you do not want to be around people who are. During summer, I'd expect a large group, but given that staff told us they'd had nobody else there that day I would've appreciated them to give us notice or an option to reschedule - I happily would have. Perhaps because they were younger or had a language barrier, staff attention seemed entirely focused on the gap yahs. The Germans seemed to have a grand old time. As for me, I'd have been better off watching a YouTube video and saving 30 quid by simply renting a board.
