I registered with this GP surgery in September when I started university. I was unsure about registering due to the bad reviews. The doctors and nurses have been excellent with both physical and mental health. The reception staff are always lovely. I’ve always managed to get same day appointments when calling at 8:30 and it never takes long to get through.

Found a lump on the back of my neck and made an appointment for the next day. I saw Olivia (who I’ve heard has now left) who said it looked ‘abnormal’ so said she’d refer me for a scan. I was told to call a number at Queens Medical for scan so I called and waited 55 minutes on hold. They answered and said the scan had been put in as routine check meaning non urgent... A week later I saw Dr Gattaora who apologised and said it looked concerning so needed an urgent ultrasound. I got upset by this and was put in a room where I called my family to say what the doctor had told me. Visited another time as I had severe pain in my throat and a male nurse told me to try scraping the white patches off on my tonsils as it looked like tonsil stones. I tried this and my tonsils bled. I have been told by other medical professionals that this was not the correct advice. In the end it turned out to just be tonsillitis.

I’ve been a number of times and every time the doctors, nurses and receptionists have been super helpful and kind to me, making sure to get second opinions when necessary to be sure of a correct diagnosis. My last doctor sent me texts with more information on managing my illness so that I could remember everything. When I had to be fast-tracked to QMC they sent all of my documents over so I didn’t have to wait (in the 4 hour a&e queue) and this also saved a lot of time for the staff there too. The only issues I do have is that in terms of phone answering / trying to book appointments, it’s does usually take a while so I would advise to call as early as you can.

Horrendous communication skills here. I was on medication from my home hospital and needed a repeat sent out, they took almost a month to dispense it because first they said "call when you've ran out" and then when I tried to show them my prescription straight from the hospital, and had the hospital on the phone with me, they refused to listen to me and were trying to change my treatment plan without my consent. Only getting two stars because some of the GPs have been nice. But one tried putting me on birth control for debilitating cramps instead to doing any examination at all. Some of them can't do their job well or kindly and I can't wait to leave.

Please, if you’re a new Nottingham Trent Student, don’t sign up for this practice. I did because it’s encouraged by the uni but after my first year I changed back to my practice at home because of the several terrible experiences I had. I was told by the first doctor I saw that I should come off antidepressants and that half an hour of exercise equaled one pill. When I remained on them, I had to waste my time and everyone else’s by going in every month to have them prescribed, instead of being put on repeat prescription like I normally was at home. Another time I left in tears after being spoken to like a five year old by a different doctor who gave me a condescending demonstration about the tonsils being ‘the soldiers who guard the throat’ when I just wanted to be told if I had tonsillitis or not and given some medication. He didn’t even look at my throat and then told me I had to go because the session was over. Myself and others I know had trouble with prescriptions not being put through properly and then not being called back by the practice after being told they would sort it. Save yourself the trouble and avoid this place completely. Something should be done about this and all the ‘sorry about this’ replies are useless.

Really caring & understanding for both mental health & physical health - very rare to have someone who is as thorough on both sides. Helped not only with prescriptions, but was there to listen to problems and work through them with me. Couldn't say thankyou enough

Worst experience of my life, I was left in tears because of the rude receptionist that can't book appointments.
