Really enjoyable session, Nessa was extremely professional and patient and very welcoming. Very thorough and clear explanation how to throw the clay on the wheel. Cost effective as three of us took part for a 2 hour session. Thank you!

I had been meaning to try wheelwork pottery for quite some time but the prices were absolutely extortionate. I am so pleased I came across this incredible, reasonably priced community studio who really do put people before profits. My course instructor Ian is inspiring, patient and supportive. The classes are always engaging and it really is the most therapeutic activity (minus the clean up at the end!) Thank you Ian!

Together with my teenage children, I recently attended a highly enjoyable 4 hour-taster session at Sundragon Pottery Studios, led by Clelia Ceccarelli (August 2021, 9am to 1pm). The course was very well organised, from booking on the well maintained website, confirmation, preparation what to bring, how to get there and finally how to pick up the pots, thanks to Becky’s and Clelia’s fantastic coordination, very friendly feedback and fantastic help. The class was small and personal with a great ratio of 4 students to 1 teacher (current max capacity 6-8 students), and ample opportunity to ask questions and to get advice and hands-on support on the piece we were working on. The session was divided between 1.5 hours of experimenting with the ‘building up’ technique to get a feel for the material, followed by another 1.5h spent at the wheel which was clearly more challenging but both turned out to be fantastic fun and a wonderful experience!! Clelia was very competent, kind and patient, and provided expert information regarding all aspects related to pottery, types of glazes and clay. The last 0.5h was dedicated to tidying up, and deciding on the colours of the glazes - we had a choice of about 10 glazes which Clelia would apply on our behalf. I cannot wait to see the results (usually ready after 3-4 weeks) after the 2 required firing cycles - which the pottery runs separately, after the session is finished. If I had more spare time, I would be in the studio for a 6 week course or as a permanent member to enjoy free access to the studio all year round!!! Highly recommended for adults and teenagers/older children alike!! (I would personally say from 12+ but you may need to double check with the teacher as this is officially for 16+ only). Great fun, and a special and inspirational activity in the holidays and beyond!

I’m currently in the middle of a pottery course with Kate. I’d never done it before but her enthusiasm and skill as a teacher made me fall in love with it within the first session. Highly recommend booking if you’re looking for a new and creative hobby!

I joined Sundragon a few years ago with minimal ceramics experience, and from that point on Becky and colleagues have been exceptionally welcoming. I've seen the studio go from strength to strength with advances in equipment, studio space and classes... all driven by the want for all to enjoy ceramics. The studio fees are nominal compared to other set-ups allowing all to enjoy ceramics. Tutors like Ian and Austin allow you to progress whilst inspiring at the same time. There's a wealth of experience with advice on hand at all times. Its a great place to go to unwind at the end of the day, for inspiration and for a chat about anything from art to politics. Can't wait for this place to re-open!

Time goes so quickly at Sundragon! I’ve never felt so totally absorbed in a craft or anything for that matter where 4 hours have passed and I’ve not thought about food 😊 Love this place, learnt so much (still have lots to learn) surrounded by really interesting, genuine people. Thanks for the intro to clay @sundragon x
