I've been on 2 courses with Sally Ann and was amazed by what she helped me make in just two days. She's a great teacher supporting you when you need a hand but making sure you get to experience the making yourself at each stage. Sally Ann has been incredibly kind emailing me with advice out with the courses and I feel I have learned so much from. I would highly recommend Sally Ann's courses to anyone with an interest in sewing millinery and hand crafts. The hats she makes by commission are also absolutely stunning!!!

Thoroughly enjoyed one of Sally’s hat making workshops recently and was very pleased with what we achieved. Sally is a very knowledgeable and experienced milliner and tutor, and was very clear with all her explanations and demonstrations. Also very patient! It was lovely working with different materials and techniques to create an item of such nice quality. Really looking forward to wearing the finished result next month. If you are interested in making things, I would definitely recommend the experience!

If you want to pay to go on a course and be in sub zero temperatures and be utterly freezing for 2 days, then this is the place to go. Sub zero temperatures In Edinburgh and then to sit in a drafty corridor from 10am - 4pm for 2 consecutive days, with your hat and coat on, is just not enjoyable. Even when you and other paying students mention how cold it is nothing is done and blatantly ignored. Which is totally inconsiderate and not what you are paying for. Being lectured by a woke tutor, other than what you are paying for to be taught, is also totally in appropriate and very patronising. If you are not a raving Royalist, you are treated with a fair amount of condescension. Amazing that we were paying for this treatment. Would not recommend, especially if you are non Scottish! Sadly, it's really put me off hat making!

I have admired Sally’s work for some time and was delighted to find a bandeau style on her website that was just what I wanted for a summer wedding and other events. I wanted the bandeau in a custom color with multi-colored flowers and gave her at best a vague idea of the color scheme. Sally patiently emailed me multiple pictures for the flowers until we landed on the perfect combination (which was her suggestion). She also suggested that I consider another color for the bandeau itself as we were finalizing the design, and once again her suggestion was perfect. And all of this was done by email at a distance of more than 3000 miles! I am thrilled with the final product, which was shipped promptly after we finalized the decisions. I have worked with several milliners who are much closer to me geographically, but none has been as responsive, creative and patient as Sally is. I look forward to working with her in the future. I was recommended to Sally - Ann Provan Millinery by a friend.. I wanted something special for my sons wedding.. I wasn’t disappointed. The hole process was so easy & comfortable from start to finish. My met Sally-Ann at her studio. I brought my material from my dress & shoes along and we started from there.. Trying many hats on, which was fun !! Asking me why I liked or didn’t like it. How it felt on. Then we narrowed it down to a couple . Trying the last few on & making the decision. It was amazing !! All the little details she added, taken into account what jewellery I was wearing too. Its a one off. I was nominated for an OBE and invited to receive the award at Buckingham Palace - "hats preferred" was noted on the invitation. I needed a hat appropriate for a day event that didn't look like I was going to a wedding. I approached Sally-Ann approximately 3 weeks before the event and was impressed from the first contact. Sally-Ann speedily arranged for a first appointment within a few days and out with usual business hours. On meeting Sally-Ann I was immediately put at ease, she is so calm and welcoming. The studio has a wonderful array of hats on display which are perfectly represented on-line. The process of deciding style of hat, colour, trim was made stress free thanks to Sally-Ann's approach, getting my opinion first then offering her advice and suggestions. Sally-Ann is a natural at customer care making the whole process enjoyable. The outcome is a hat that suits my colouring; complements my outfit (trim was dyed to match); is comfortable and I feel confident wearing it. Highly recommend seems like an understatement.
