Since our daughter started in Reception at Stormont, there has not been a day where she hasn't wanted to go to School. The staff are extremely friendly and made the transition from Nursery to Reception very easy. We are amazed at how quickly our daughter has learnt to read and speak some French! She loves all the sport and we have been very impressed with the art and pottery that has come home. There is a fantastic community of parents and it is a delight to see our daughter enjoying all the different opportunities.

An outstanding school environment in which any girl fortunate enough to attend will be encouraged & supported to develop skills across a broad range of curricular and non curricular activities. Stormont is non selective; accepting girls of varied ability and developing them to achieve the best possible outcomes from their time here and, while this more nurturing approach is evident from the very first experience of the school, there is no lack of focus on academic achievement. The staff may not be as single mindedly focused on the relentless pursuit of academic excellence as some at other local schools, however it's our experience that girls continue to achieve outstanding academic results without the explicit pressure associated with a more intense school environment. While it's a cliché, it is also true that every child is different and, consequently it is impossible to believe that any single school can ever be perfect for every child, but I'd encourage any parent or carer of a daughter to visit and consider Stormont. I cannot commend the school, under the leadership of Mrs Martin and her team, highly enough: it's quite simply a wonderful place.

I moved my daughter to Stormont School part way through year 4 as she had been very unhappy in her previous school. The pastoral care was fantastic, the teachers and girls really made it easy for my daughter to settle in and be part of the Stormont family providing extra support and activities to help her integrate into the class. Since settling in at Stormont so many people have noticed such a positive change in my daughter she is now happy, confident in herself and loves learning. It would be fair to say that the change in my daughter is largely down to the support and effort of the teaching staff at Stormont who have right from day 1 made her feel part of the family. I can't thank Stormont's staff enough for making a positive impact on my daughters life and setting her up for success in the future.

We transferred our daughter to Stormont mid-year from another school last year, and we have been very pleased with the decision. Everyone at the school was so welcoming to her and made a special effort to help her settle in. There is a very healthy balance between academics and extracurricular development. The incredible breadth of sporting activities on offer has really helped her develop important physical skills and a sense of teamwork. The art department is very cutting edge, and the keen focus on French is fantastic. In particular, we must say that one of the things that makes this school so special is the Headmistress. Mrs Martin really engages with, and nurtures the students and has built a solid teaching staff around her. In our opinion this is the best non-selective girls school in the area.

Tucked away in a leafy corner of Potter Bar, Stormont School is welcoming and friendly. It centres around a charming Victorian building where girls get dropped off on the veranda in the mornings. Mrs Martin the headmistress has a visible presence and is incredibly approachable, as proven when the Lower School girls greet her with a big hug as she ushers them in to the school in the morning. It’s a wonderfully nurturing school with outstanding pastoral care, where the girls are allowed to grow at their own pace with encouragement, building self-belief and emotional resilience. As Mrs Martin once said to me “If you get the emotional and social right the academics will follow.” She is definitely getting something right as the School has a happy family atmosphere; the girls are smiling and confident, polite and articulate. What is really notable is just how supportive the girls are of each other. But then the girls have had a fantastic set of values taught to them right from Reception by way of the Golden Rules: Always follow instructions straight away. Be polite at all times and show good manners. Care for everyone and everything. Do your best, and join in. I really do believe these guiding principles help shape the girl’s attitude. The School also instils a real give it a go attitude, probably because there’s much to give a go, Football, ITC, Cookery, Golf, Tennis, Dance Club, Musical Theatre, Debating are just a taste of some of the clubs on offer. It offers a non-pressurised environment, education isn’t a sprint it’s a marathon and the girls get off to a great start. Learning support is brought in when needed and communication between home and school is excellent. Problems are dealt with swiftly and effectively. I certainly believe that Stormont not only lays down a great foundation for their educational career but also the rest of their life. If you’re after a caring, forward thinking school with some healthy good old-fashioned values then I think you’ll like Stormont.

Stormont provides a stimulating and supportive environment in which the girls gain enthusiasm for learning, enabling them to make excellent progress which has worked incredibly well for my daughter. The girls are encouraged to become independent thinkers who are kind, have a positive self image and respect those around them. They take pride in their own and fellow pupils' achievements. An excellent feeder school that gives girls the opportunity to be confident in their sport and academic abilities. Scholarships are often awarded as well a places at selective schools, Dame Alice Owens, North London Collegiate, Haberdashers' Aske's Girls School, St Albans High School, Wycombe Abbey and Haileybury.
