03.05.2023 = Today the government announced an outright ban on cold calls with the aim of arranging financial products. A common theme that has hovered around Stonebridge Wealth has been 'trainee financial advisers' cold calling to book in prospective clients (to arrange financial products). Its a blanket ban so hopefully this grubby practice will finally end (Even at Stonebridge Wealth!) Aug 2020 - Their latest recruitment advert says...... "We have a demonstrable track record of successfully training individuals through to highly profitable advisors." For a small firm with only 6 advisers showing on the FCA register thats quite a claim. Ok, lets fact check that... With another trainee (Mr HM) departing prior to being licensed or qualified in July 2020, I'm aware of at least 17 Trainee Financial Advisers/Client Account managers (in Stonebridge Speak) who have left prior to becoming qualified/licensed (It could be many, many more). With only 2, yes that's right TWO, trainees over this period actually getting qualified and staying. Its a demonstrable track record of something!!!! ..................... Feb 2020 - I first posted this over a year ago, but the cycle just keeps repeating itself, For all I know, Courtney (who posted below) could be completely insane, but the pattern looks very familiar. Anyway, to all those of you who have believed the 'preview' and are now Cold Calling in earnest, and "Doing your Admin in your own time"?? Don't forget to register as self-employed with HMRC - many have been caught out by this whilst working with Welbeck/Stonebridge in the past.

Please stay as far away as possible from this “company” especially if your a graduate. This firm is run by past employees from a company called Welbeck consulting look it up. One of their ‘partners’ was in fact the founder of the company and was previously declared bankrupt ! He is no where on the FCA register of the new firm and uses the same tactics such as cold calling, used in the previous firm which landed him into debts over millions of pounds. They lie and promise you a salary which is tax free paid in cash to keep you off their books which is completely illegal and they stop paying you the amount agreed, and since they don’t provide a contract you screwed! Luckily I found a legitimate job with a solid contract. Don’t do it even if your desperate

Stonebridge Wealth LLP are recruiting, the advert on Reed says its a PERMANENT EMPLOYED POSITION, however a lot of firms like this have been known to 'sell' impressionable, inexperienced graduates with a flattering sales patter about their firm, to gloss over the fact that they actually don't really want you 'on the books' at all. To make sure its right for you there are 3 things you should do... 1) The first question you should ask is "so you aren't going to fob me off with just paying me for a few months? - if you don't get a straight answer (i.e. Yes/NO - they are sales people remember!) just walk. 2) Then ask how many trainee financial advisers they have hired over the past 5 years and how many are still there; if only e.g. 5 out of 30 have had any success, become licensed financial advisers, and are still with the firm, that’s just around a 15% success rate , you might be straight out of university, but don’t be so naive and easily flattered to think you wouldn’t be in the 85%! And if the leaver rate is that high (it might be far less), what does that say about the recruitment process (Barclays/HSBC don't hire people expecting to lose 85% of them in a matter of months!)? And finally 3) Do a google search on every one of the management team before you make your decision and sign anything (include “Welbeck” in your search). You might find it to be the perfect opportunity that you had been looking for, but remember “Marry in haste, repent at leisure..” Good Luck.
