I was recently given two Victorian era family bibles by an uncle. There is a lot that has been written in them by the family over the years, in terms of family history etc, so they have great sentimental value, but they were in very poor condition, with the spines falling apart the brass catches in poor condition, with one broken and all heavily tarnished. The second smaller one was calf leather and in a similar state. Phill has done an excellent job of restoring them, with just the right balance, in my opinion, between keeping what is possible of the old, whilst restoring them to a useable condition. One of the inside covers of the smaller one had family writing on it, but this could not be salvaged, although he kept the old fragment of cover. He arranged to scan this, and replaced it in the bible, so it looks virtually identical - this is a good example of his attention to detail. He also took great care to repair the broken brass hinge on the larger one. All in all, I am very pleased indeed, and you can trust him with your family heirlooms!

Phill did an absolutely amazing job on my wife's Mothers family Bible. Dating back around 1895 the cover, spine etc was so badly worn and damaged we could not believe the repair job he did. The bible is repaired so sympathetically he should be on the BBC Repair Shop. Many many thanks Phill you made an old 95 year old lady very happy. Ron Moseley
