I used to go to the cinema about once a week in Manchester (at the Odeon just off Deansgate). I've been living in Scarborough since Feb. 2022 and have wanted to see films at the SJT haven't seen anything advertised that I would be interested in seeing. Almost all either films released 35 to 40 years ago (in some cases 70 years ago) or very niche films for a niche market. I don't want or expect 'Marvel' garbage but 'Calamity Jane' (1953) and carry on Constable (1960)??? There don't seem to be many films generally at the SJT. I wanted to see the new (2023) version of 'all quiet on the western front' but there were only two showings so missed it. In my opinion a film like that should have 4-6 showings. The staff in the foyer are helpful. There will be a new cinema in the shopping centre - but not until 2025.

A well run theatre facility. Fair price. Interesting professional productions. Seeing a play in the round, means you are near to the actors and audiences feel drawn in. There is a nice bar and small restaurant, also a small shop. Highly recommend a visit.
