  An unfortunate experience with this company, particularly with poor management and administration. We made arrangements for regular maintenance which became more inconsistent through the first 6 months: repeated late cancellations of booked visits, jobs left incomplete and very poor communication from the 'office'. More upsetting they took a 4 figure deposit for an additional project which they clearly didn't have the manpower or organisational skills to complete. Having listened to a string of excuses I asked for the money to be returned. Despite several promises I am still waiting (4 months and counting). Have had to resort to legal channels. Services: Garden design, Yard work

  I don’t like to put negativity out into the world but I feel so aggrieved with my experience with Stephen Charles Landscapes that I thought it important to share my experience so others don’t have to go through the stress.  We started a big project with them in January which was estimated to be 6-8 weeks and here we are on week 17 with works still to be completed.  There’s lots of lovely, capable individuals working for this firm but they’re all let down by a lack of management.  We’ve been continuously ignored throughout the process with unanswered calls, lost emails and if you call the office they’ll give you the ‘different department’ line which for a small local firm is madness. In hindsight, alarm bells should have rang when Stephen first arrived for a landscaping consultation and he thought he was there for a maintenance contract. Later down the line, we clearly stated the designer assigned to us didn’t feel like quite the right fit and they outright ignored our concerns and continued on without any acknowledgement.  The list of hurtful errors from these guys is too long to list here but our main grumble is the lack of care and sensitivity to us and our garden.  We had lots of established plants and shrubs that we cherished and we were assured would be taken care of throughout the process. On day one, they were ripped out by the building team, moved to an ’nursery’ and neglected until they mostly all died. They spent so much time and probably budget on the hard landscaping through mismanagement that they then replaced our established losses with mainly young flowers and shrubs within a day - which we’ll see the benefit of in a few years.  We still have extensive jobs outstanding that are already paid for, whether we see the jobs get done or the requested money returned is anyone’s guess. Absolutely gutted.   I appreciate this Company have many excellent reviews. However, this was not my experience. I paid £300 for an initial consultation and to have plans drawn up to revamp the front garden of my West London terraced house. I also wanted a quote to improve and treat my back lawn. They did not turn up for the first appointment. It was me who had to chase. Stephen Charles himself then came to look at the lawn. He said he would provide a treatment plan and quote, but despite chasing, we never had the courtesy of hearing from him again. And he’s in charge of the business! Our designer worked hard on the front garden project but she didn’t seem to hear what we wanted and only seemed to develop her own plan minimally. Everything was in staight lines and we wanted a more informal look. She still included things we said we didn’t want. We certainly didn’t have a meeting of minds. The quote was for nearly £20k. We decided to walk away.

  The garden was in need of a good tidy up. The team came punctually and did an amazing job. George Sands looked after us; he was professional, helpful and accommodating. They fitted us into their tight schedule with very little notice, shifting appointments around to accommodate our tight time frame. I’d recommend this company without reservation.
