  I was very pleasantly surprised at the level of empathy shown by the staff, very professional 28 day program, well put together, and i would highly recommend it to anyone, looking to turn their life around. Currently i am four and a half months clean, and an active member of their aftercare program via zoom, and i will continue doing so.

  I came to step by step in January 2022 after having bad experiences with another centre, after speaking to grant the administrator i knew that the lighthouse was the place I wanted to go too, I was obviously scared and didn’t know what to expect, and when I arrived on 29th December I was met with so much kindness and people that cared it Made it so much easier to adapt to my new way of life, down to the cleaner the chef Linda the ownser and all the staff that I still talk to now through aftercare, they really did show me a new way of life, I’ve never been academic in my life, but I’ve never learnt so much than I did in the lighthouse, they prepared me for the outside world and the fellowship and the 12 step programme, I love the place and miss it sometimes when I’m having hard days, but I ring them for guidance still now, i know that they’re always there when I need them, the lighthouse has helped save my life thank you, just for today x

  I arrived at the Lighthouse on the 2nd of July 22 in desperate need of help, I was shown nothing but compassion and care from the word go. I felt safe and knew I was in good hands. Although I remember little of my first week of a 28 day stay I quickly came around and began to build good relationships with both peers and staff. Something that was aparant very early on was that the whole Lighthouse Team had a good understanding of what it was like to be where I had come in from, isolation and a brutal cycle of self destruction. Their non judgemental, non discriminatory approach was kind and welcoming. Without knowing it the councellors, of which there were 3, clearly discussed each case they were dealing with and assigned each of us tailored assingments which, if taken seriously, one could only benefit from. All the support satff were as dedicated and took a genuine interest in everyones wellbeing. The food was delicious, rooms were very comfortable, fair to say its not the Ritz but for me, a very gratful recovering alcoholic, it was where i needed to be. I can honestly say I enjoyed my time there. Been out 2 weeks, I have a positive outlook for the future and a new perspective on life. Thanks to the Lighthouse and Lighthouse Team. I cant fault any one of you. With respect and admiration for the fine work you do I'll now sign off. Thank you once again. Leo Shaul

  I write this review upon just celebrating 3 years of continuous sobriety since leaving the Lighthouse clinic,. This is after 17 years of heavy addiction what left me homeless and bankrupt not only financially, but also emotionally. When I think about what my life was like before entering this wonderful place, it can only fill me with gratitude everyday. I would like to thank all the staff that supported me from the moment I walked in broken and desperate until I left, and after! I recommend the Lighthouse clinic to anyone struggling. If I can do it absolutely anyone can - this is the place to come!

  We have to thank all the staff at the lighthouse for their amazing care and support to our daughter . She was in a very bad place when she went in , and through the recovery program has come out after 4 weeks , a changed woman ! Mentally she has grown up and now has a more positive view on life. She enjoyed all the sessions including CBT and DBT , one to one counselling and meditation . She loved the food and has made some life long friends. She regularly speaks to other people she was there with on a group what’s app which she finds a great comfort. She also joins in with the aftercare zoom sessions which are held weekly and provide additional support . We are so pleased we found you.

  I’d like to say a huge thank you to all the Team following my recent stay in the Lighthouse Step by Step, Essex. Because of the size, we were all able to receive very individual personalised care. Tony, who very carefully selects the clients, keeps the balance just right in the house. There are very experienced staff available to talk to at any time of the day or night - they don’t just sleep in, they are actually up & ready to talk through your concerns in the wee small hours - Paul & Adam were fantastic, thank you so much. As were Kirsty & Chris. The food was amazing and from the Counsellor’s to the domestic staff everyone played a really important part in my recovery & I highly recommend this place to anyone who has reached their rock bottom and needs a helping hand to rediscover themselves.

  I have to say the staff at Step by Step were just amazing, they really helped a close relative of mine get through a very dark and difficult time in her life. Danielle in particular was really supportive and gave my cousin all the encouragement and self belief she needed to get clean and, so far, to stay clean too. It's been an incredible turn around in her life which we had pretty much given up any hope of seeing and it's in no small part down to the staff and the approach at Step by Step...on behalf of the family thank you all so much!

  My friend checked into Step by Step January 2020 and I truly believe this is the only reason he is with us today. All the team are simply amazing from the first call to the day he left they were available to us all for advice or simply to chat. The professionalism is beyond anything I’ve seen and they made a very emotional time one of positivity and hope. Words cannot express how highly I recommend Step by Step. My friend has just celebrated his first year sober and he is now living a very happy and healthy life. All I can say is Thank you from the bottom of my heart

  This place was almost a last resort for us. I can't fault the program, the staff, the food and the set up. My son came out a different person. However, you need to find out for yourself about the programme set for your loved one after the 28 days is over and ensure it is adhered to, as my son is back to his old drug taking self now after only a few weeks of leaving the building! We didn't know what we/he were supposed to be doing, so we didn't know he wasn't following the plan. We have been in touch to find out what we should do now, but to be fair, he has left them now and it's a business....
