Everyone at Staunton were lovely to deal with and they helped us with minimal fuss during such a difficult time. They were farther away than we would normally consider but that didn't cause any issues at all. We had some personal requests which Lydia was super helpful to deal with for us. Having lost my Dad very recently and being so overwhelmed by which funeral directors to use and basically everything that goes with it I wanted to share my experience with Staunton Funeral Service In Havant I had spoken to so many other companies and my stomach was in knots with the enormity of making sure I got everything right but unable to so far find a service that was right for us and being 100% certain he was in the care of people who although passed, treated him with respect. The moment I spoke to Lydia that weight just fell away her empathic language, professionalism and flexible approach made me cry with the relief of knowing I can fully trust this lady with every step of the process, she even organised for my Dad to be taken to their new funeral home Overton & Saunders in Eastleigh when I had a wobble about Dad being so far away from me just to ease my anxiety. Along with Lydia and her husband David I had access to a wonderful women called Jo who was our celebrant and within our first meeting put our family so much at ease we felt we had known her for years. This wonderful women would check up on me and the family and also offered to drive me to my mums after she had a fall, Jo’s insight and messages got me through and even when I text her often late in the evening with yet another worry she was happy to chat and reassure me that “we have got this” The whole process was seamless,supportive and they just carried that something extra. When I was called to do my poem and felt so scared and emotional, Jo just smiled,held out her hand and told me she was there for me if I needed her and it was all I needed to hear . I cannot thank you all at Staunton for making me lighter with the very first sentence we shared, I could not imagine going through it all with anyone else . As Manager of GreenAcres Heatherley Wood, a woodland cemetery and ceremonial park in Hampshire, I have worked with many Funeral Directors, however Lydia and David really do go over and above. We recently worked together on a very difficult service and the compassion, care and kindness demonstrated by them was second to none. As an independent funeral directors they can be more flexible than those that are part of a large group, and they will work with you to ensure the perfect service from start to finish and beyond.
