The Negative reviews are the ones to read and follow. The bank is interested in "reviewing" accounts and then freezing them, leaving you with no access to funds.

Absolute pile of s**t! Spent 2 days trying to setup a business account. With stupid, irrelevant questions which obviously can't be skipped or explained in an app during onboarding. Just one example: "Please provide recipes of the machinery will be used in your business". My business is related to property, no machinery what so ever but there is no option to comment or skip... Anyways, eventually gave up and opened account at Tide in 10 min

In October 22I reported a 8000 eBay related within minutes of it happening and had about 6 hours to contact eBay to prevent fraud being successful. Despite several calls from me did nothing other than tell me to report it to an online crime site. They spent the next month or so denying any responsibility before a letter before action and then refunded the money. This year they started sending me requests for information about my business. I don’t owe them any money so ignored it because I didn’t think it any of their business. They did send me an emails saying that they would restrict some of the features of my account. Two weeks later I realised my balance was close to Zero and might not have funds in the account to make payroll. They had been bouncing my receipts from Barclaycard and over 30k was bouncing around. Try to deal with Starling was a nightmare not least because the phone number for the department was incorrect and also because their customer service was so very poor. 5 weeks later I have received some of the funds but over 20k is still bouncing around because of error on their part several years ago. I believe I will get all of the funds back eventually but with absolutely no help from Starling. If I had not had funds in another bank I could have defaulted ann my financial responsibilities and been put out off business. In my view their actions were totally disproportionate and draconian. Their app is great but service appalling. Starlings Response. Obviously haven’t looked at their own notes. They did nothing to prevent me being defrauded out out of over £8000 then tried to deny liability until I issued a letter before action. With regard to their more recent heavy handed actions. They have already sent a letter admitting failings and saying it is their final response so why give me their phone number which will just waste more of my time as nothing happens if you call them. I am still many thousands out of pocket because of their heavy handed actions. No help from Starling.

I had a frustrating experience with Starling Bank which was supposedly a good forward thinking bank that did things differently and was supposed to be friendly to startups and small business owner. I was asked to fill out a bunch of forms etc. and then sent a generic decline email. For a company that supposedly does things differently and is unlike the high street banks, this sounds very much like a false promise.

Outstanding customer service today whilst I was travelling on Eurostar from long trip in europe. Nicola saffron and Cameron were all excellent. I had a problem where a car rental company had put 3 pending transactions on my account and they only took for one after vehicle returned this left my account with 2900 euros overdrawn. Customer service team were prompt through chat and email. Very professional and courteous. They made every effort to keep in contact when Eurostar signal terrible guided me through what I needed to do and resolved the problem within a few hours. Bringing my account back to balance. The online banking service and exchange to euro is excellent. Never failed me in withdrawing from ATMs or making purchases. Brilliant Starling! Totally dependable.

I've been with Starling for about a year, easy to set up and the account was up and running inn about 2 hours. Unlike Barclays which took 6 week. App is good and does everything you need, I like the fact that you can make notes on each transaction and upload receipts. Yesterday I was a victim of fraud nearly £950 was paid to Facebook, I used the app to report the fraud to Starling and they had it sorted and refunded my £950 to my account within a few hours.

Useless. I had my business account with them for around a year, decided to change my personal account from Lloyds to starling too, big mistake, they’ve closed my business account without any explanation. And then they’ve closed my personal account during a switch.. customer service is shocking and won’t help. I don’t know where my money is going or how I can stop the switch. So now thanks to these, I have no personal account and no business account.

Avoid Starling bank at all costs. They have just closed my company account today after I asked them to release almost £2,000 they have been withholding for 2 weeks. This is the second time they have closed one of my business accounts without reason. Even when asked, they won't provide a reason, it's unbelievable. A payment was made to my company from an FCA and ASIC regulated company 2 weeks ago. For some reason they accidentally typed an incorrect digit in the BIC code, they confirmed this was their error not mine. Starling have held the money for 2 weeks. They claim to have sent it back, but have repeatedly failed to produce proof or any document at all showing this. The company who sent the payment have produced an MT103 from their bank proving that Starling have the money. Today, I get a notification from Starling that my account is closed and that they dont have to give a reason why. I will be forwarding all correspondence to the FCA and making a formal complaint. It's not quick or easy to get another business bank account, last time it took me 4 months and I wasn't even allowed a debit card for 12 months after opening the account. Starling have just crippled my business for absolutely no reason.

Absolute Shambles has a "failed" transaction which i had to raise a "dispute" for i was told i had to wait 5 days and the "dispute team" are not directly contactable so there is no way of finding out how long it is likely to be until i get my £200 pound back because there Card/Authentication system constantly fails! Still not sorted now will be moving asap!
