At a crazy time in a seemingly crazy world, it is still possible to escape to beautiful, serene places, and there can be few better than here. Even on overcast days, the beauty and tranquility are restorative and rehabilitative. The Church is lovingly tended and usually open. Some thoughtful souls have made tea and coffee available for visitors to make, and books to pick and read. Yesterday, the leaves were beginning to turn and the first hints of autumn were in the air. I like to imagine that the Church and surroundings inspired JL Carr to write ‘A month in the Country’, although I have no evidence; however, he lived relatively nearby for a time and loved the area. It is a place to go alone or with loved ones. You can’t help but come away feeling better. Please respect it and leave it as tidy and peaceful as you find it. Thank you to those who maintain the Church and its facilities: you are the best of people and much appreciated.
