St Mary's is more than just OK but, if we're rating churches on a five star system, it's a three star church. Only about 1,000 churches in England warrant any stars at all. The best parts of the church are the Marney chapel and tombs, and a St Christopher mural.

Church was re-built from the foundations early in the C16th and partially renovated in 1870. Some interesting monuments & tombs from C14th relating to the Marney family. Church is normally open and worth a visit especially if visiting the Layer Marney Tower.
