I haven't received my product yet but I have no doubts it will be as amazing as the in-store product I tested. Christopher assisted me in choosing a new mattress (I have back issues) and he was incredibly patient and informative, as well as friendly and professional, I had a lovely experience and would highly recommend everyone who can afford the luxury, should shop at Smiths of Harrogate :)

This shop is an absolute gem. Having had little option but big chains last time we bought a mattress, we had to look elsewhere on replacing it because the Euro Kingsize bed we have is no longer the common mattress size it was before Brexit. While we found Smiths when running a search online for the mattress size, neither of us wanted to take a chance on picking the wrong type based on a product description, so off to Harrogate we went. I’m a wheelchair user, so the first impression on arrival was “oops” because there were steps to the door and no obvious accessible entrance. That wasn’t a problem, however, as before my husband could even go in and ask about alternate ways in, someone had come out to escort us to the side entrance, letting us in and then fetching a portable ramp so I could make it past the occasional step, before then taking us to the first floor in the lift. Their mattress specialist, Frank, could not have been more patient or helpful if he had tried. He completely understood the potentially complex brief and helped signpost us to the mattresses most suitable for our needs, and we’re now waiting on delivery of our preferred option. He very kindly gave us space - and coffee and biscuits - to discuss options and come to a decision, while also giving a subtle hint on the propensity of one particular mattress to be perhaps less ideal for any use beyond sleeping. While our focus was just on the mattresses this time, Smiths sell a broad range of furniture and I wouldn’t hesitate to go back as and when we need to buy other things. It was lovely to be shopping somewhere that doesn’t feel like an aircraft hangar with frequent intrusive bursts of tannoy, and it was overall a surprisingly relaxing experience. Prices are not bottom end of the market, but they’re also not excessive for the quality of the goods on sale. My husband did one internet search for the mattress we wanted while we were there because the earliest delivery was some weeks away and our current mattress is causing pain now. Not only was the manufacturer delivery window later than that offered by the shop, Smiths came in overall slightly cheaper. Next step will be delivery in a few weeks’ time, but I’d be very surprised if there was anything that occurred to change my opinion. Smiths have been around for a long time, and if everyone has the same experience we did of shopping there, it’s not hard to see why.
