Con merchants. They guaranteed a mower repair for a certain day for an event I had planned which needed a large lawn mowing beforehand. They assured me this would be possible so I would take it to them. The deadline was clarified on the phone and again in the office when I dropped it off. I called on the day and asked when I could pick it up and they said it hadn't been looked and would not be ready for pick up, then started getting sarcastic and denied knowing about any guarantee, despite making a big deal of writing it down and circling it while I was there and saying it would be a priority job and will definitely be ready in time. I told them not to bother since I didn't want to give them my business and picked it up without repairs. No apology and cheeky remarks from the gentleman but the lady seemed apologetic. Event was ruined since I had to try tackling it on the day with a borrowed electric flymo mower and didn't even manage half of the job in time. In regards to your response, it was indeed a short time to complete the job which is why I drove it all the way to you in St. Helens (I'm in Wigan) since you told me you could do it in time. I wouldn't have gone if you told me there was a chance it wouldn't be done You assured me it would be, and it now seems you were just saying that to clinch my business. Don't try to blame my 'attempted repair' (a clean up) for the delay since you said yourself it hadn't been looked at as of Saturday morning (the day it was needed and guaranteed for), so you couldn't possibly know whether my work would have hindered your repair, had you bothered to attempt it.
