This church is famed for its Norman doorway, with 5 rings, and its door which although dated to the building of the church (circa 1154) could be from the 10th century with its ironwork possibly of Scandinavian origin. Certainly what looks like a long ship is one of the decorative features. The door you see at the SW entrance to the church is a replica. This was to preserve the original door from further decay. That door is opened in the church in its original position. Another interesting feature in the church is an effigy of Sir Robert de Moreby (there is a Moreby Hall a mile up the road from the church).
