Lovely church with an interesting history particularly relating to the sundial inscription above the door. Close to the Kirkdale Cave and useful stopping point on an excellent circular walk from Nawton up to Hold Cauldron and beyond.

It is well worth visiting St Gregory's Minster, a Grade I Anglo-Saxon listed building in Kirkdale near Kirkbymoorside, North Yorkshire, UK. It has a rare sundial, in Built in c. 1060, and is dedicated to pope St Gregory from 590-604. The church is still active and there are beautiful walks in the surrounding countryside.

Interesting and easily accessible. Worth seeing, not worth going to see. If you're in the area, go to the crypt in St Mary's at Lastingham, it is exceptional.

A truly beautiful Saxon church. The sundial inscription dates the rebuilding of the church accurately as Tostig Godwinson became Earl of Northumbria in 1055, deposed in 1065 and killed at the battle of Stamford Bridge in September 1066. King Edward the Confessor died earlier on 5th January 1066. The inscription itself is in Anglo Saxon with a Scandinavian influence.

This late saxon church is well worth seeking out there is plenty of parking which highlights that this is a popular and sought out church. There is a late saxon sundial above the porch and a couple of 8th century coffin covers. Def worth a stop

A fantastic setting with some great places for budding adventurers to explore nearby ...this Anglo-Saxon church dates back to 1060...and there was a wooden church on the site before and prior to that a stone circle one of the stones can be seen adjacent to the West tower. It also contains a very large Anglo-Saxon sundial which is above the main door entrance. There are a lot of unusual markings and historical artefacts to be found both in and outside of the church. A couple of 100m away from the church if you follow the main road you might come across some caves
