We have contacted Square Feet Architects requesting CAD drawings for the existing layout of a property for which they planned an extension (and we now own). We have offered to pay them, their hourly rate, for the time they would spend locating and sending these files. They have asked £1,500 for the drawings - of a job they have already been paid for, which cost £500-£600 to reproduce from scratch. When suggesting the sum was somewhat high, we've been invited to make another offer, as if haggling in the market. This has left me wondering: If the cost they charge for a job they have already done is 2-3 times the market price for re-doing it, how much would they charge for actually doing a job?
