Springbank Care Home is a beautiful historic mansion - large airy rooms with high ceilings, huge windows, wood panelling, amazing fireplaces etc and lovely gardens. Home Manager Alex and her team care deeply about their residents and surroundings and ensure it really IS a home from home. Keep up the good work Alex!

They looked after my dad till the end and made him as happy as could be. Care was thoughtful and understanding of him his needs and his life. I do not recognise the negative reviews as this was not our familys experience

Lovely looking place. And most staff friendly. Very unhappy with management. Mum had accident and they rang my young niece whist she was at work to go buy pads for her. How embarrassing for my Mum. She didn’t want her granddaughter knowing her incontinence issues! I complained in person. No redress. I complained once again to a senior member of staff..........still no comment. So I complained in writing and have just had an email saying..........yes you guessed it. No comment. They did However have my young niece in the office to complain about my complaining. My Mum requested a bath and hair wash on her last day there. Didn’t happen! I didn’t pick her up till after 14.00! What did we pay £850 a week for??!!

Poor management team who don't communicate well with residents or relatives. Deputy manager is unprofessional and a bully to staff, residents and relatives. She told us our relative's needs could not be met after only one night (and an assessment by the manager) because our relative reacted badly to being in a care home environment, she also called the GP to sedate our relative that night (GP refused), she was overheard crossly telling our relative to get back into bed and stay there before 8 pm. She was also overheard complaining to staff that another relative had made suggestions how to help their relative eat more on the same day that she removed a plate of food from that resident after only ten minutes and without her eating anything. The manager is slow to react to resident's needs - an important piece of safety equipment was not functional or operational for six weeks due to her lack of proactive action. Despite the dementia unit supposedly being secure, our relative was able to wander out of her room in the night unobserved, walk out of the dementia unit and along a long corridor to the front door area where there is an open staircase where she injured herself and was eventually found by staff. After complaining about the bullying incident where our relative was told to stay in bed, the manager would not extend the respite contract, telling us our relative's room was needed for someone else (other rooms were available), at a meeting a few days later, she said it was because we had "concerns" and that our relative's needs could not be met... we had been told nothing of any incidents which led to this conclusion so this was a complete surprise. When we asked for examples , the first incident had happened ten days earlier. It was something typical of dementia sufferers but evidently not something Springbank could manage. Springbank failed to manage our relative's condition and do not appear to want to address anything other than very mild dementia symptoms. The surroundings and most of the care, domestic and activities staff are very caring and very good (some are exceptional) but the uncaring management team completely let this setting down - overall it is NOT a "caring" or professional care home environment.
